Sangit Mahabharati is a renowned music academy based in Mumbai, dedicated to preserving and promoting Indian classical music through structured education and performance.

Established in 1956, the institution was envisioned as a place where music is taught in its purest form, blending tradition with disciplined academic training. Today, Sangit Mahabharati Music Academy continues to nurture students of all ages under the timeless Guru–Shishya Parampara.

Founder Legacy

Legacy of the Founder

Sangit Mahabharati was founded by Pandit Nikhil Ghosh, a Padma Bhushan awardee and one of the most influential figures in Indian classical music of the 20th century.

A visionary educationist, tabla maestro, composer, and author, Panditji revolutionised music education in India by introducing structured pedagogy, teachers’ training programmes, and music research initiatives. His legacy continues to guide the institution’s philosophy and academic standards.
