Learning Beyond the Classroom

The Periodical Programmes at Sangit Mahabharati form an integral part of the institution’s academic and cultural activities. These programmes are thoughtfully designed to enrich students’ musical understanding through live performances, expert lectures, and listening / music appreciation sessions.
Organised by the Students’ Circle, these sessions are held regularly at the Sangit Mahabharati Library Hall for the benefit of students.

Nature of the Programmes

The periodical activities may include:

  • Performances by highly acknowledged and senior artistes
  • Lecture‑demonstrations by eminent scholars and experts
  • Listening and Music Appreciation classes
  • Interactive sessions focused on raga, tala, style, and aesthetics
Academic Importance

Attendance at these sessions is considered academically essential, as participation in even one such programme is equivalent to gaining insights from multiple classroom lessons.
For this reason:

  • Student attendance is compulsory
  • Attendance forms part of the examination and assessment system
Depending on the students’ level of proficiency and the Principal’s discretion, selected programmes may also include students’ recitals.
